Slope Index of Inequality
In the key messages for most Health Profiles, the life expectancy gap between the most and least deprived in the local authority is described using the Slope Index of Inequality. This is also displayed in the form of a graph at the bottom of page 2 of the profile. The Slope Index provides a measure of inequality based on the relationship between life expectancy and deprivation across the whole of the local authority. Click for more details on the Slope Index.
