Resource Information
Description:
New South Wales Planning System Review Submission from Centre for Health Equity Training Research and Evaluation (CHETRE) (2011). This is CHETRE’s submission to the current review of the Planning System in NSW, Australia. The new Strategic Planning and Development Assessment Act presents an opportunity to address current challenges to health head on. The new legislation should ensure that plans and projects at all levels and of all types across the state have two important consequences for public health: protecting health by ensuring that the built environment minimises the risks of illness and injury and enhancing health and wellbeing by creating a built environment that assists people to live healthy lives. The focus of this submission is therefore: How the new legislation can protect and enhance the health and wellbeing of people and communities in NSW in the 21st century. More details of the review can be found at the
New South Wales Government
website.
