Resource Information
Description:
There are many forms of impact assessment, which may be used at regional andlocal level to assess the possible impact of proposed policies, programmes andprojects. These may cover a range of issues, for example, economic, environmental, sustainability, equal opportunities, human health, quality of life andpublic expenditure. These different forms of impact assessment often seek toaddress overlapping areas of concern and frequently ask the same questions. The Department of Health, acting on behalf of the Whitehall Inter-Departmentalgroup on Health Impact Assessment, commissioned Northumbria University toundertake a project to map out examples of where organisations have attempted tointegrate these different forms of assessment into a single assessment process.Integrating different forms of impact assessment may reduce duplication of effortand make such assessments more user-friendly.
