KEYNOTES:
The health of people in North Lincolnshire is similar to, or worse than England for many of its health indicators.
Life expectancy for males and females, early deaths from heart disease and stroke and cancer, are similar to England averages. However, the proportion of people diagnosed with diabetes and deaths from smoking are worse.
There are health inequalities in North Lincolnshire by gender and deprivation. For example men from the least deprived areas can expect to live eight years longer than those in the most deprived areas.
North Lincolnshire has similar rates of children who are classified as obese and infant mortality, to the England averages. Smoking in pregnancy, teenage pregnancies and breast feeding initiation rates, are worse when compared nationally.
North Lincolnshire has high rates of hospital stays for alcohol related harm and road injuries and deaths, when compared with the England averages.
Priorities for action in the Local Area Agreement for North Lincolnshire include cardiovascular disease mortality, smoking, under 18 conceptions, breastfeeding, childhood obesity, people killed or seriously injured in road traffic accidents and substance users in effective treatment.
