KEYNOTES:
The health of people in Vale Royal is generally better than the England average, including the percentage of children who are physically active, the estimated percentage of adults who smoke and the percentage of people recorded with diabetes. Some indicators are similar to the England average, such as the estimated percentage of obese adults and a few are significantly worse, such as smoking in pregnancy.
There are health inequalities by gender and level of deprivation. For example, men from the most deprived areas have over six years shorter life expectancy than men from the least deprived areas. Women from the most deprived areas live over four years less than those from the least deprived areas.
Over the last ten years the death rates from all causes for men and women have decreased and remain similar to the England average.
The early death rate from heart disease and stroke has decreased over the last ten years, but not as fast as the England rate. It remains worse than the England average.
The estimated percentage of adults who binge drink is significantly worse than the England average, so alcohol has been identified as a priority through the Local Delivery Plan.
The Cheshire Annual Public Health Report and strategic needs assessments provide further detail on the health of this area and can be found at www.cecpct.nhs.uk and www.wcheshirepct.nhs.uk
