KEYNOTES:
The health of people in Derbyshire Dales is generally better than the England average. Life expectancy is significantly higher for both men and women in Derbyshire Dales compared to the England average. However, the rate of road injuries and deaths appears significantly higher than the England average.
There are inequalities within Derbyshire Dales by gender and level of deprivation.
Over the last ten years, rates of deaths from all causes, early deaths from cancer and early deaths from heart disease and stroke have improved, and remain lower than the England average.
Children's health in Derbyshire Dales appears generally better than the England average. Levels of physically active children, obese children, children's tooth decay and teenage pregnancy are all better than the average for England.
Levels of drug misuse, deaths from smoking, hospital stays for alcohol related harm, and estimated prevalence of smoking and healthy eating are all better than the England average.
The percentage of over 65s 'not in good health' is significantly lower than the average for England.
The Derbyshire Local Area Agreement has prioritised tackling physical activity, alcohol misuse, road injuries and deaths, breast feeding, child obesity, teenage pregnancy, and all age, all cause mortality.
