KEYNOTES:
The health of people in North Kesteven is generally better than the England average. Life expectancy is significantly higher for both men and women living in North Kesteven compared to the England average. Levels of drug misuse, deaths from smoking, hospital stays for alcohol related harm, people diagnosed with diabetes and new cases of tuberculosis are all significantly better than the average for England.
There are inequalities within North Kesteven by gender and level of deprivation. For example, men in the least deprived areas of North Kesteven can expect to live more than 3 years longer than those in the most deprived areas.
Over the last ten years, rates of deaths from all causes, early deaths from heart disease and stroke and early deaths from cancer have improved and are better than the England average.
Children's health in North Kesteven appears better than the average for England. The levels of teenage pregnancy, children's tooth decay, physically active children and obese children are all better than the England average.
It is estimated that the prevalence of smoking in adults in North Kesteven is lower than the England average.
The Lincolnshire Local Area Agreement has prioritised tackling physical activity, smoking, child obesity, alcohol misuse, and road injuries and deaths.
