KEYNOTES:
The health of the people of North Warwickshire is generally better than the England average. However indicators estimating obesity and healthy eating (five fruit and vegetables a day) and rates of road injuries and death are worse than the England average.
Overall life expectancy is similar to the England average. Very few North Warwickshire residents live in either the most or the least deprived fifth of areas nationally.
Early death rates from heart disease and stroke have fallen and having been above the England average are now very close to it. Early death rates from cancer are also in general falling.
Levels of deprivation, children in poverty and violent crime are lower than the England average but GCSE achievement is also lower.
Children's tooth decay is less than the England average.
Teenage pregnancy rates are less than the regional and the England average.
Rates of hospital stays for alcohol related harm and rates of drug misuse are below the England average.
Priorities for North Warwickshire are to reduce road injuries and deaths, to reduce obesity by increasing physical activity and to further reduce smoking and smoking related deaths.
