2007 Achievement highlights - Our successes here have included:
- strengthening the APHO infrastructure to support the network of PHOs. A document setting out the core roles of PHOs has been agreed across APHO and the APHO central team are progressing to plan with their work programme in this area
- Yorkshire & Humber PHO leading work with the Department of Health, PCTs and Local Authorities to review potential information sources for Joint Strategic Needs Assessments. This includes developing a recommended core dataset in an easy-to-use format for commissioners
- strengthening the Regional Intelligence Networks. This is a key role for PHOs and better integration and harmonisation of regional information functions, inequalities in dental health. These datasets will be available to inform local health needs assessments including among Cancer Intelligence Units, Public Health Observatories, regional Health Protection Agency Units and Government Offices for Regions, continues to be a priority.
