2007 Achievement highlights

The Department of Health is developing a population health web portal or desktop, where data, evidence and knowledge will be easily accessible in one virtual place. We are contributing to this in a number of important ways:

  • working on behalf of APHO, North East PHO is leading the development of the new National Library for Public Health.
  • it is anticipated that the Library will be based on the emerging National Public Health Language, which is currently being made compatible with the international medical nomenclature SNOMED. This work is being led by Eastern Region PHO
  • East Midlands PHO is leading the development of a national set of data analysis tools which will be available through the Public Health Desktop. The tools will range from Excel templates and instructions to more sophisticated Excel add-ins and web tools.
