The Health Impact Assessment (HIA) was commissioned by Marsh Farm Community Development Trust, Luton Borough Council and NHS Luton. The HIA was carried out to help ensure that the redevelopment/regeneration of the Central Area maximised the potential positive health and wellbeing impacts and minimised the potential negative health and wellbeing impacts for residents of Marsh Farm. The specific objectives of the HIA were to:

i. Review and link to the findings of the previous HIA
ii. Identify health impacts of the redevelopment of the Central Area
iii. Focus on the wider determinants of health
iv. Make recommendations to minimise the potential negatives and maximise the potential positives

The HIA drew on the masterplanning design process; previous assessment reports; information from local and national organisations; and feedback from local people during the HIA consultation process and other consultation events running in parallel.
